Before attending a retreat
The person who wants to book for a retreat has to read and act on the available details which the retreat executive has sent. He has to bring with him certain items which are essential. This includes torch, candles, sleeping bag, boots and such things. The person has to prepare himself for the retreat schedule too. This schedule is intensive and one gets up as early as 5 am and retires at 10 pm.
Due to this, this may help him to get adjusted to his jet lag. On arrival at the retreat centre, he can prepare himself to retreat from the outside world, set aside the daily worries to concentrate wholly on his meditation practice. Due to this, it is also impossible for the person to manage his affairs during his stay at the retreat place. Further, it is also not possibility of communication at such retreats as there are no such communication facilities at the centre. There is no electricity, telephone or such mobile phones. Therefore, one is advised to tell his family and friends not to expect any call from him during his stay at the retreat.
